Pheng Port Owner, Designer

Pheng Port was born in Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia. Her versatile, elegant, and striking approach to floral design is influenced by her diverse experiences living in Cambodia, New Zealand, and Southern California. Pheng moved from Cambodia to New Zealand when she was nine years old and later attended Massey University, where she met her husband Jonathan Port. The couple eventually settled in the Los Angeles area. In 1995, Pheng began working at Flower Fields in Westwood, where she became General Manager and Designer. In February 2004, Pheng assumed ownership of Trellis Flowers.

A self-taught floral designer, Pheng has a distinct aesthetic and appreciation for light, shadow, color, balance, and texture. Her talents in photography and art history, which she studied at Santa Monica College, also influence her design. Her style blends aspects of traditional and modern design, creating a very clean and contemporary yet organic feel. She enjoys incorporating unusual or elegant elements, such as lotus seed pods, water lilies, and cymbidium orchids, into her floral creations.

Stephanie Burton Manager, Designer

Stephanie Burton’s background in studio arts brings a unique quality to her floral arrangements. Born in Boston, Massachusetts to an artistic family, she has been making art in various forms since childhood, and draws inspiration from nature and its organic beauty for all of her artistic endeavors. She received a B.A. in Fine Arts from The San Francisco Art Institute, majoring in printmaking and painting. After college, she moved to Los Angeles and worked as a graphic designer, silkscreen printer and jewelry designer for many years. Working with flowers incorporates her love of plants with her sensitivity towards colors and textures. Each design is a collage of these various elements, assembled into a living sculpture.

Since launching Hannah Koo Designs in 2004, Hannah has been working with Trellis since its opening, while continuing to pursue her career as a jewelry designer.
